Ship-Management
The scope of the activities carried out are within the frame of BIMCO SHIPMAN contract, adapted to Owner’s needs/requirements.
Services
- Plan, review and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Develop and maintain the Safety Management Manual (SMM).
- Functions as Designated Person Ashore (DPA).
- Accident investigation and reporting.
- Vessel’s certification.
- Communication with Class and Flag Authorities.
- Follow-up vessel’s generated documentation.
- Internal audits.
- Establish, review and maintain a Ship Security Plan (SSP) through a properly devised Ship Security Assessment (SSA).
- Functions as Company Security Officer (CSO).
- Accident investigation and reporting.
- Communication with Flag State with regard to security issues.
- Certification.
- Follow-up vessel’s generated documentation.
- Internal audits.
- Verify MLC applicability.
- Follow up documentation in tandem with crewing agency.
- Certification (MLC, DMLC I and II).

Purchasing
STL handles a wide network of suppliers, in all trades, and is able to serve the vessel’s needs worldwide in a timely and cost-effective manner. Through the appropriate purchasing software, STL carries out all purchasing activities, namely:
- Establish the purchasing procedures (as part of SMM).
- Verification of the order (vessel or office made).
- Do RFQs, POs and get supplies delivered as needed.
- Order follow-up.
- Payment of invoices.
Furthermore, STL takes care of budget control, in tandem with vessel’s superintendent.
Technical Management
Through the appointed technical superintendent, STL controls and monitors the technical management of the vessel, focusing primarily:
- Vessel’s safe and effective operation.
- Technical purchasing (under direction of SI).
- Budget supervision.
- Drydocking contracting.
- Follow up documentation.
Accounting
STL takes care of accounting as per applicable rules, including vessel’s budget control. Periodical reports (monthly or as otherwise agreed) are forwarded to clients for their own internal reference and control.
For vessels owned by companies resident in Spain, STL can also take care of all required administrative documentation, making sure that the Ship Owning Company abides by the Law in all respects.
As basic tasks, STL carries out:
- Tonnage Tax declaration and liquidation.
- Accounting.
- Periodical declarations.
- Financial audit.
- Other administrative formalities.
Crewing
Crew is hired via specialized crewing companies, normally selected by the Ship Owner, under MLC monitoring of STL.
Functions of STL are mainly related to supervising MLC compliance in terms of STCW certification, health and safety, employment terms and documentation, etc.
Other
Other activities carried out by STL:
- Insurance (H&M, P&I, CL…).
- Environmental issues (SEEMP, MRV…).
- Vessel’s Certification (Flag State, Class, other).
- Company certification (DOC).
